Kevin L. Grove, PhD

Kevin L. Grove, Ph.D., is an assistant scientist in the Division of Neuroscience at the Oregon National Primate Research Center. Dr. Grove received his B.Sc. in the Department of Animal Science at Washington State University in 1990, and his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the same university in 1994. He did his post-doctoral work at the Institute of Clinical Research of Montreal in Quebec, Canada.
Dr. Grove’s long-term interests lie in determining the role that maternal and early postnatal health and diet have on the development of hypothalamic circuits that regulate feeding behavior and metabolic balance as well as peripheral metabolic systems. Dr. Grove’s laboratory uses both rodent and nonhuman primate models to investigate the effects of maternal diet-induced obesity and diabetes and postnatal overnutrition on the development of these systems in the offspring. Dr. Grove and his colleagues investigate these issues in a multidisciplinary approach, using traditional neuroanatomy, molecular biology together with the monitoring of in vivo physiology.
Dr. Grove has published more than 60 journal articles, book chapters and reviews, and more than 70 abstracts. His is a member of the Society for Neuroscience, Endocrine Society, Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior, and the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Grove is also a member of the Neuroendocrinology, Neuroimmunology and Behavior study section for NIH.
